Man lost $124,000 in Amazon scam. Here are 10 ways to keep it from happening to you

In the last few weeks, two residents from Greater Cleveland have been ripped off for thousands of dollars by con-artists claiming to be from Amazon. In one case, an elderly man lost more than $100,000.

Senate confirms Lina Khan as Federal Trade Commission commissioner

The U.S. Senate voted Tuesday to confirm Columbia University Professor Lina Khan, a noted antitrust and anti-monopoly law expert, as a Federal Trade Commission Commissioner. U.S. PIRG supported President Joe Biden's nomination of Khan to the FTC and called on senators to confirm her based on her almost unparalleled qualifications.

Statement: Beech-Nut to stop selling some rice cereal over arsenic concerns

Beech-Nut will stop selling all single grain rice cereal after Alaska state officials discovered high arsenic levels during routing sampling, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) said in a statement released Tuesday.

Statement: CPSC vote to regulate infant sleep products will save lives

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission approved tough new standards Wednesday to regulate several infant sleep products for the first time.

We oppose Senate Bill 2393 because it assumes fossil fuel infrastructure is the best solution to a community’s energy needs without proper consideration of alternatives. We also oppose SB2393 because it incentivizes gas line extensions throughout Illinois by shifting costs of extension on to existing customers. These policies are risky if not reckless in a time of climate change.
