The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced on Thursday that it will add 12 new toxic waste sites for prioritized cleanup under its “Superfund” program.

Illinois Department of Insurance requests data from car insurers on overcharges during the pandemic

The Illinois Department of Insurance called on auto insurers Wednesday to provide detailed data that will allow for greater understanding on how much insurance companies overcharged Illinois drivers during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. The “data call” comes in response to a letter sent by 16 state senators and nine advocacy organizations in January. Insurers will have through mid-May to respond, and the information will be made public by June.

Statement: EPA says PFAS contamination in pesticides may violate federal law

In an effort to protect communities from PFAS contamination, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced on Wednesday that the presence of PFAS contamination in pesticides could be a violation of a federal toxic chemical law, known as the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). The EPA has signaled the presence of so-called “forever chemicals'' in pesticides could stem from the fluorinated containers used for storage and transportation.
